Rossi wins BMW Best Qualifier Award - November 2nd 2004

    The Ducati Marlboro Team has concluded its 2004 testing schedule in the best possible way at Valencia, Spain. Thanks to superb performances by its two riders, the Italian team went quicker than the 2004 pole mark set by Tamada (1m32.81s) and Biaggi's fastest lap (1m33.58s) recorded just over one month ago in the final GP of the season.     The French based Yamaha Tech3 team has announced its 2005 MotoGP World Championship rider line-up with Ruben Xaus joining fellow Spaniard and former GP 250 rider Toni Elias on the YZR-M1. Xaus, who signed a one-year deal with the Tech3 team, finished his Rookie MotoGP season in 11th place, after having scored points in 11 of the 16 round championship - a result which secured the 'Rookie of the Year' title for the former Superbike and Supersport rider. He is set to join Elias for his first test aboard the 2005 YZR-M1 in Malaysia next year - January 22. Read more.....

    At the incredible race which brought the season to a close at Finestrat (in Spain), Aprilia and her twenty-four year-old French rider, Jerome Giraudo, brought down the house by winning the Supermotard S2 World Championship Title. Presenting themselves at the start with a seemingly insurmountable disadvantage of twenty-six points behind Massimo Verderosa riding his Honda, Aprilia's flag bearers progressively made up the difference in the space of two heats only then to conquer and win the final by surpassing all rivals, bringing themselves to the top of the classification.     The riders of the team Telefonica MoviStar Honda MotoGP, Sete Gibernau and Marco Melandri have worked hard during the last day of testing at Jerez before moving to Valencia where, next week, the last test session of the 2004 season is scheduled for the 29th and 30th of November. The Spaniard Sete Gibernau has carried on the work on the bike testing many different particulars in order to find the best package of all the material he has, while his new team mate, Marco Melandri, continued his apprenticeship on Honda, riding more confidently.     The Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha Team rounded off its championship-winning 2004 season today with a third and final day of testing in Sepang. Valentino Rossi and his 2005 team-mate Colin Edwards enjoyed another hot and dry day at the Malaysian circuit and now head off for a well-earned winter break. Read more.....

    The Camel Honda team announced its rider line-up today for the 2005 MotoGP World Championship. The Camel Honda team, led by former double-World Champion Sito Pons, finished third in the 2004 Team Championship and for the forthcoming season welcomes into its ranks two new riders: Brazilian Alex Barros and Australian Troy Bayliss.

    Valentino Rossi, the recently crowned MotoGP World Champion, made a historic journey to Yamaha's head office today (November 19) in Iwata Japan to visit the facility and the people that supported his 2004 campaign. He also received a personal 'thank you' from the company's president Mr. T. Hasegawa. The flamboyant Italian arrived at Yamaha Motor's Communication Plaza, by helicopter and was greeted by the huge applause of management and factory staff upon his arrival. Read more.....

    Belfast's MotoGP regular is set to return to the prestigious British Superbike Championship in 2005. MonsterMob Honda team owner Paul Bird has offered the 41-year old veteran the No.1 role in the team for 2005, alongside fellow countryman Michael Laverty.

    Bird, who is at present in Macau, met up with McWilliams at the Motorcycle Show and made him an offer, although Jeremy is to travel to Spain for tests with two MotoGP teams for next year - Aprilia and Team Roberts KTM.

    The final weekend of the International Motorcycle & Scooter Show 2004 attracted over 50,000 visitors to Birmingham's NEC. Read more.....

    Yamaha's versatile, high-performance FZ6 Fazer, took the prestigious Motor Cycle News 'All-Rounder of the Year' award at this year's International Motorcycle & Scooter Show, at the NEC, Birmingham. The Motor Cycle News Awards are recognised as the most important in the industry and for the second year running Yamaha's Fazer 600 took the prize. Read more.....
