  26. Q. How does it feel to be part of a multiple-championship winning team?

    A. It's a great chance for me to further my career. It's amazing to be with the Honda Racing team, knowing that they have won championships before and they obviously know what they're doing. Getting the chance to be part of that gives me a good opportunity to do well.

    Q. What do you think you can bring to the team?

    A. I think I'm quite good at working with people. I was part of a reasonably big team last year, so I had to work with sponsors and talk to mechanics. I also worked with my Red Bull Rookies Honda Racing team-mate Eugene Laverty last year. I think I've got the right image to bring to the team and I'm well mannered.

    Q. What are your realistic goals for the coming season?

    A. Obviously I want to be right up there in as many of the races as possible. I want to try to be consistent throughout the season and secure some podium positions. A top three in the championship would be fantastic.

    Q. What do you hope to gain from your association with Red Bull Rookies Honda Racing?

    A. I want to try to make a name for myself and be seen as one of the better riders out there. I want to be recognised as a rider and as part of the Red Bull Rookies Honda Racing team. It's not all about me, me, me - I want to do well for the team as well.

    Q. What does the Red Bull brand mean to you?

    A. Red Bull is very professional and has a good image. The team they have raced for the past two years has been the one to beat in the British 125cc Championship. It's a big company that backs the sport really well. There needs to be more large companies out there who do the same to support young riders and encourage new talent.

    Q. How important do you feel the development of your talent is to the future of the sport?

    A. I think it's very important. Until now, we haven't really seen much youth development in the sport and if that situation continues there won't be any riders in the future. This type of project that is being run by Red Bull and Honda Racing is definitely the way forward to ensure that the sport has a future.

    Q. What is your current training regime?

    A. I go swimming every week and cycling as often as I can. I'm also starting gym work soon, time permitting, because it's difficult to fit training in around school. Exercise is definitely a good thing though, so I do it as often as possible. It's good for motivation before a race.

    Q. What else do you like to do away from the race track?

    A. Just the usual stuff people my age do really. I spend some time with friends, listen to music and try to fit in some homework. I'm studying for three A levels at the moment in geography, physics and graphics.

    Q. What is your ultimate racing ambition?

    A. To be a world champion. I think it will take time but I believe it's possible. I would like to be British Champion by the time I'm 20 and then go on to compete at world level.

    Q. How do you think the new Red Bull Rookies Honda Racing structure will help you to achieve your ambition?

    A. Having a big team behind me will push me hard and I think as long as I can respond to the tasks they set me I will just go from strength to strength and move forward as a rider. If I can learn from experience - other people's and my own - I'll already be on my way to reaching my ambition.

    Q. How well do you know your new team-mates?

    A. I worked with Eugene last year because we were in the same team, so we're already friends and I'm going to stay with him for a few days at New Year. The whole family are great people. I get on with Jonathan [Rea] really well too. I know him from riding in the British 125cc Championship. Both of the other riders are good people. Knowing each other already is bound to help with set-up and it means the team will get along quite easily.
