Featured rider - Paul Seward BSS #84 - 6/6/04
Paul Seward is making his first appearance of the season in the British Supersport Championship this weekend ( 6 / 6 / 04) at Thruxton. The 28 year old IT company director from Waterlooville is currently leading the MRO SS championship, thanks to a dominant display at Brands GP last w/e. Not only did he win all the Bemsee events he entered on the Saturday and Sunday ( 2 races each day), he won the MRO race on bank holiday Monday by over 6 seconds. He triumphed over a decent field including Mike Goodfellow, Danny Fowler and Richard Wren (who was over 30 seconds adrift), and set a new MRO lap record of 1.33.02 in the process.
Paul started racing in moto cross as a 6 year old. He reached national level by 17, but a surfeit of injuries lead him to try his hand at karting for a couple of seasons. A new job and an injection of cash gave him the chance to take up road racing bikes four years ago at the age of 24. One week after buying his first race bike, he was competing at Pembrey. He put himself on the map in October last year with a stunning ride at the final MRO round of the season at Brands Indy, where he opened a huge gap on a quality field including Chris Platt, Kenny Burns, Danny Fowler and Richard Wren, and cruised to victory.
The Pompey Tyres backed R6 he is riding is a four year old caburated model. Paul is hoping a decent performance this Sunday may attract a sponsor to help him enter more rounds of BSS this year and ideally an entire season in 2005.
