This new racing location is a place of contrasts, from huge towering peaks soaring over thick sweaty lowland jungles, to flaming volcanoes spewing ash over blackened deserts and rolling great blankets of lava down through forest and swamp to sandy beaches and the azure sea. The island is a place of beauty, but also a place of danger. Abandoned by man for over forty years since the last great eruption, this is the perfect place to bring the racing extravaganza that is the MotorStorm festival. Race through humid swamps and thick forest, plough through deep river, leap huge waterfalls and singe your paintwork in the furnace of the volcanic wastelands.
Not just pretty backdrops to the action, these environments take centre stage in challenging players with everything in Mother Nature’s arsenal. Thick mud, tangled undergrowth, swift flowing rivers, choking volcanic clouds and searing lava pools all test the drivers to their limits and beyond.
There are eight vehicle classes to choose from spanning big, small, fast and monstrous vehicle types each with their own off-road pros and cons: ATVs, RALLY CARS, BUGGIES, MOTORBIKES, RACING TRUCKS, MUDPLUGGERS and BIG RIGS – as well as the newly arrived Monster Truck that can climb, sprint and roll over any other vehicle in their way! The brand new Monster Truck is a force to be reckoned with! Its monstrous wheels can rip through all surfaces – vegetation, swamps, rocks and more. But this towering giant does have one weakness: sharp corners. Take a turn too fast and you’re in for a crash!
While bigger vehicles can tear through the jungle undergrowth and flatten smaller competition, more compact vehicles can cruise around tough spots and maintain balance when teetering on the edge of cliff sides and volcanic lava pools. Whatever your vehicle of choice, the race will always be intense, and a driver must be quick-witted, alert, and completely ruthless in order to win this competition.
Using the power of PlayStation®Network, 16 players can race head-to-head online and, for the first time in the series, racers can hit the gas in four-player split-screen mode. Not to mention Trophy support, which will allow players to boast about their off-road racing talents.
Motorstorm Pacific rift is one of the hottest new all terrain vehicle games of 2008 with adrenaline filled races and crazy racing stages from the jungle to Rocky Mountains.
The basic idea of the game is 16 drivers racing a 2 lap race in vehicles ranging from monster trucks to motorbikes. Race courses are loosely laid out and it's completely up to you to pick the best route for your vehicle.
Motorstorm has great range of vehicle most have to be unlocked in single player mode but all can be customised to your style. The vehicles available are motorbike, quad bikes, trucks, rally cars and monster trucks and others but to be unlocked.
On motorstorm there is also available online racing which has the same layout as the offline game 12 racers and 2 laps you cans chose either ranked or unranked races.
