During their season-long rivalry, the pair would take victory nine times between them, sharing the podium on no fewer than six occasions, to set up a thrilling final round title showdown. It was edge-of-the-seat drama as Laverty went all out to overhaul Crutchlow’s championship lead. Portimao also saw the bitter battle for third between Sofuoglu and Joan Lascorz finally settled.
