The T100 was one
of two models announced by Triumph when civilian
production recommenced in 1945 partnering its
touring stable-mate, the Speed Twin at the head
of the range. The machine was much as the 1939
model had been, although the girder forks had
given way to telescopic items and would continue
largely without change for four years. 1949
brought revised styling for the Triumph range
and the introduction of the famous "nacelle"
housing the headlight and instruments.

Triumph re-entered the 350 class in 1957
with the introduction of the Twenty One,
Triumph's first unit-construction model.
Following the introduction of the sporting
500cc T100SS, the 350cc twin received similar
treatment. Launched in October 1962, the
Tiger 90 featured a tuned engine equipped
with a revised ignition system that used
points instead of the previous distributor.
The Tiger 90 looked smart and went well
too, top speed under favourable conditions
being a genuine 90mph. |
