Triumph Motorcycles launch the Sympatex
September 2011. Triumph Motorcycles
are to launch the Sympatex Light Jacket as part of
its Autumn/Winter 2011 range. This jacket is the first
motorcycle performance garment to incorporate specially
designed LED light technology for increased rider
Following 18 months of design development,
that includes Triumph motorcycle test rider evaluation,
the Light Jacket is a design innovation with real
world riding benefits.
Whereas high visibility materials rely
on a light source, the Light Jacket has a series of
LED lights engineered in to the outershell that helps
to give the rider greater levels of visibility among
other road users. The LEDs are powered by a small
rechargeable battery that allows the wearer to switch
the front and back
lights of the jacket on and off independently for
full control. This battery has been fully tested,
running for more than five hours in a single charge.
The LED’s are bright and visible on the upper
chest and back area while also being very comfortable
and not emitting any additional heat. The jacket’s
light technology is
very user-friendly and easy to use.
It is also a fully capable, top of
the range waterproof riding jacket. Using Sympatex
membrane technologies, the Light Jacket is 100% waterproof,
windproof and breathable. Constructed from DuPont
Cordura and Airtex fabric, it also includes a removable
storm collar, internal storm guard, removable thermal
lining and CE Knox protectors to the elbow and shoulders.
Triumph’s Leiah Lamplough, who
was responsible for the development of the product,
commented that ‘Triumph is a cutting edge and
innovative brand. Within the performance clothing
range we are also striving to innovate and use technologies
that will really benefit riders. The Light Jacket
is one exciting example of this’.
The Triumph’s mileage test rider,
who has been testing the jacket during its development,
commented that ‘The LED’s are surprisingly
bright and definitely aid visibility when on the road,
even in normal daylight. They really come in to their
own at dusk, in the dark or in fog’.
The jacket will be available at Triumph
dealers from September 2011 with an RRP of £395.
In addition Triumph have also incorporated the same
LED light technology in to a high visibility vest.
The RRP of the Light Vest is £165.
