2010 Triumph Thruxton

Inspired by the spartan café
racers of the 1960s and named after the Triumph racing
bikes of the era, the Thruxton is a sleek machine
which seamlessly mixes traditional styling with a
modern attitude technology.
The fuel injected, 865cc parallel twin
is the most powerful of Triumph’s Modern Classics
range, delivering 69PS delivered at 7400rpm and peak
torque of 69Nm arriving at 5800rpm. The engine shares
the same 360° firing interval as the Bonneville
but also features ‘hot’ camshaft profiles,
a compression ratio of 9.2:1
and megaphone style exhausts.
Low rise bars, a sporting riding position,
18 inch aluminium rimmed spoked wheels, megaphone
style silencers and a race inspired stripe from tank
to tail evoke memories of the Ace Café and
racing in the streets, but underneath the engineering
is pure 21st century. The chassis too brings modern
handling and
braking thanks to adjustable 41mm forks and a 320mm
floating front disc brake gripped by a twin piston
caliper provides powerful, but sensitive, stopping
performance.
Wrapping the motor is a precisely crafted
chassis that inspires confidence while delivering
real sporting character. The sturdy, preload adjustable
41mm telescopic forks and twin rear shocks give superb
suspension action and compliance while sharper steering
geometry and a wheelbase of 1490mm
(56.7in) all aid steering input.
Like all of Triumph’s Modern
Classics range, the Thruxton benefits from revised
instrumentation with cleaner design and a digital
odometer in 2010. Colour options for 2010 are a vivid
Tornado Red with a white centre stripe or Jet Black
with gold striping.
