The Ultimate Duke
Those who want to take a 990 Super Duke's performance
and design to the next level choose the 990 Super
Duke R – the even sportier and more extreme
version of its already dynamic sister model. To achieve
these properties, KTM has equipped the solo machine's
LC8 engine with a modified crank mechanism, larger
titanium inlet valves, an optimised cooling circuit,
the throttle valve body from the 1190 RC8 Superbike
and modified mapping. The result: an impressive 132
HP. The premium-quality lightweight frame and particularly
exquisite WP chassis components specially tailored
to the 'R' requirements (including being fully
adjustable and having TiAlN-coated sliding surfaces
of course) make the 990 Super Duke R the perfect racing
machine. Thanks to the perfectly controllable power
output, the playful yet precise handling and the low
weight, it is also ideally suited to everyday riding.
And that's precisely why the shock absorber's setup
has been optimised for 2010. The multi-functional
speedometer has also been overhauled.
