Third generation Peugeot Speedfight
3 due for summer 2009

22nd January 2009
Fourteen years after it first appeared and 10 years
after its last major restyle, the third generation
of the Peugeot Speedfight scooter will arrive in the
UK during summer 2009.
Sports scooters account for nearly one in five sales
to European riders in this sector and over half a
million Speedfights have been manufactured and sold
to date, so the designers at Peugeot have paid attention
to retaining the sporting lines and distinctive appearance
of the first Speedfight, while up-rating the functionality
of the all-new Speedfight 3 .
Central to the new design is the revised chassis,
with the fuel tank relocated to a central position
under the floor pan, which significantly lowers the
centre of gravity. Combined with 32mm hydraulic forks
(replacing the single arm on previous models) and
larger 13” wheels, this gives class-leading
handling. Braking gets the latest technology too –
for the first time Peugeot have fitted a dual piston
radial calliper, which works with the 215mm Shuricane
front disc brake for powerful and controllable stopping
power.
The relocated fuel tank is expanded to hold 8.5 litres
(2 gallons), so the Speedfight 3 has a potential range
of up to 150 miles. Under the seat is a substantial
storage bay and there is even a dual function 12V
socket so that mobile phones can be charged on the
move. Price details will be confirmed closer to its
arrival date later on in the year.
