New Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX 1200cc
ABS
12th June 2009
The
latest adventure-style motorcycle from Moto Guzzi,
the Stelvio 1200 NTX, is aptly named after the Stelvio
Pass, the highest tarmac road in the Italian Eastern
Alps with an unbelievable 84 hairpin bends and rising
to a breathtaking altitude of 2758 metres. Moto Guzzi
Stelvio NTX, with ABS as standard, has a unique character
with a mix of dynamism, comfort and protection. It
is the ideal motorcycle for congested city traffic,
long journeys and unpaved adventure – a bike
with no boundaries
The Stelvio NTX, with its powerful 4V
1200cc V-twin engine and ABS, offers a number of practical
and functional features as well as a wide range of
dedicated accessories tailored for touring.
The clean lines of the side fairings flow perfectly
into the tank and tail sections with the high tech
LED taillight cluster incorporating the turn indicators
in a compact and functional layout - its design and
functionality comes together to give shape to this
unique detail. The aluminium structure of the passenger
handgrips emphasises a sense of solidity to the design
and offers extra load carrying capacity above the
adjustable saddle assuring the rider and pillion passenger
of a comfortable and enjoyable ride.
The aggressive style of the dual headlamp (with twin
low and high beam lights in a tandem layout) highlights
its distinctive character while ensuring excellent
visibility in all riding conditions and its manually
adjustable windscreen offers greater protection for
all riders’ heights. Further functional features
have been designed, aiming to guarantee further comfort
and safety in all road conditions. These practical
features include side mounted fog lights ensuring
a broad field of vision, hand guards, an engine guard
protecting the cylinder heads and aluminium side panniers
that offers impressive load carrying ability, while
specially designed aluminium fasteners allow additional
luggage to be carried above saddle level.
Its chassis and suspension are designed to ensure
outstanding performance and stability. With a perfect
weight distribution, the new powerful four-valve V90
engine and the chassis geometry transmit a feeling
of absolute control to the rider and class leading
handling in all conditions. The Stelvio has been developed
using the new “Quattrovalvole”, the most
advanced version of the legendary 90° transverse
V-twin engine. The new lighter crankshaft, three ring
forged pistons and lightweight valves with 5mm stems
are crucial components of this high performance engine.
A new exhaust system, with large volume muffler, optimises
the engine performance at low and medium speed, generating
maximum power of 105 CV at 7500 rpm and 11kgm of torque
at 6400 rpm.
The
Stelvio NTX 1200 4V gives a ride that is superior
to many road style motorcycles, coping with all the
rider asks of it - the new twin spar frame is made
of reinforced high-strength steel to which the engine
is anchored through six mounting points – two
more than normal.
The refinement of the suspension, the 105 horses
and the powerful three-disc Brembo braking system
(twin 320mm front disc, 4 piston radial calipers)
guarantee great control and superb handling. The fully
adjustable upside down front forks with 50 mm stanchions
and the progressive linkage rear monoshock with ‘piggy-back’
pre-load adjuster, enable the rider to tailor the
motorbike's performance in terms of stability and
control to suit different load and usage conditions.
The clutch and brake levers with adjustable travel,
cam-adjusted gearshift and rear brake pedals allow
the bike to be set up perfectly for enhanced riding
pleasure.
The Stelvio NTX 1200cc 4V with ABS is a motorcycle
that has been designed and developed to reach any
destination, devouring great distance on tarmac roads
and even off road surfaces.
Retailing at £11,299 (excluding OTR) the Stelvio
NTX is available in Magnesio, Nero Guzzi (Black),

Moto Guzzi is the oldest Italian motorcycle company,
established 15 March 1921, in Mandello del Lario,
on the shores of Lake Como and the factory is still
there today.
Moto Guzzi was the first motorcycle manufacturer to
install, what was then, a very futuristic Wind Tunnel,
in 1950.
Moto Guzzi's racing history showed a record of impressive
wins and by the time they withdrew from motorcycle
racing in 1957 they had achieved an amazing 14 world
titles and 11 Tourist Trophies.
In the late 1960's Moto Guzzi introduced the first
90 degree V-twin engine that would soon become the
symbol of Moto Guzzi.
On 30 December 2004, Moto Guzzi became part of the
Piaggio Group, Europe's leading manufacturer of motorcycles
and scooters.
Today, the glorious Eagle brand produces a number
of new, modern, highly competitive motorcycles in
both the naked and faired market.
