Ducati announce 1098R support package
Ducati UK announce a 1098R owner package as recognition
of customers’ support in Ducati’s bid
for yet another BSB title.
The 1098R is the ultimate Superbike. The most advanced,
most powerful twin-cylinder motorcycle ever built,
with the highest torque-to-weight ratio in the sport
bike category. It is a bike that has been built to
win races and yet shares many of the original features
found on the 1098 and 1098S.
The 1098R carries the Ducati racing DNA and has
been developed to be as close to the bikes that race
in both British and World Superbike Championships.
The bikes currently being raced by Leon Morris and
John Laverty in the BSB Cup are virtually identical
to the 1098R on sale in dealerships. The 1098RS race
bikes ridden by Leon Camier, Shane Byrne (Airwaves
Ducati) and Michael Rutter (North West 200 Ducati)
are arguably closer to production bikes than any other
manufacturers’ bike currently competing in this
year’s British Superbike Championship.
Demand throughout the world has been phenomenal
as customers have sought out this ultimate Superbike.
In the UK it has been a similar story and Ducati UK
wish to thank customers for their patience in waiting
for delivery of their machines; unfortunately high
worldwide demand has meant inevitable delays in UK
deliveries and thus the number of 1098R registrations
has been hampered and therefore lower than expected
for this time of year.
Current BSB technical regulations state that that
a minimum number of 100 units must be registered for
the road in the UK by 1st June and therefore, in order
to be eligible, Ducati UK will register the handful
of bikes that do not yet have customer orders –
expected to be 10-15 bikes with 85-90 already going
to customers by the deadline. The full UK allocation
of 1098R for 2008 is expected to be no more than 110
bikes.
Concurrent with this announcement and in accordance
with the exclusivity of this motorcycle, Ducati UK
are pleased to announce an owner package as recognition
of customers’ patience and support in Ducati’s
bid for yet another BSB title.
Owners of a 1098R will receive from Ducati UK and
in association with Airwaves Ducati, North West 200
and Brookspeed Moto Rapido:
- Team hospitality on the Saturday of a BSB round,
weekend paddock pass and garage tour (dates to be
confirmed)
- Signed photos from all team riders
- 1098R team supporter certificate (signed by all
three team managers)
