Engine

The engines of the Scarabeo 125/200 have both been specially designed for Scarabeo. These advanced, lightweight, rational and clean running engines combine excellent performance with miserly consumption, are almost vibration-free in use, and boast ultra-low emissions in keeping with Scarabeo’s environmentally friendly lifestyle.

Single cylinder four stroke design ensures a fun ride as well as safety and comfort. Both units feature liquid cooling and four-valve heads with double overhead cams. This is the first time for an engine of this type to be used on a scooter of this size. Its efficient valve gear means extra power and clean running. It is no coincidence that both engine sizes are among the most powerful in their respective classes.

The 200 version delivers an impressive 14 kW (19 bhp) at 7500 rpm, with plenty of torque (18,3 Nm at 6500 rpm) for sporty yet relaxing acceleration and active safety under all riding conditions.

The 125 cc engine develops the maximum power permitted by law. The Scarabeo 125 can therefore be ridden by ‘B’ class licence holders (Italian legislation). Its power output of 11 kW (14,9 bhp) means sporty but safe performance.

The 125 cc engine is fuelled by a modern Keihin carburettor for simple operation and trouble-free maintenance.

A catalytic converter is fitted to ensure cleaner exhaust emissions and bring Scarabeo 125/200 within the limits of EURO 3 legislation.

Particularly low fuel consumption plus a generous 9 litre fuel tank combine to give more than enough autonomy for a week’s urban commuting.

Chassis

Scarabeo 125/200 is agile and safe in all situations and able to deliver motorcycle riding sensations on fast roads.

Merit for these impressive results is due mainly to the exceptional rigidity and robustness of the new high strength steel frame, and to the perfect setup of the suspension, which is tuned to deliver maximum feel and a super-smooth ride.

The front fork is a 35 mm hydraulic unit. At the rear, the engine and transmission assembly acts as swingarm, with the assistance of an aluminium reaction arm. Simple, lightweight, yet effective, this solution incorporates shock absorbers that let you adjust preload to four different settings to cater for all possible loads and riding styles.

The refined wheels are fitted with 16” high-wall tubeless tyres (100/80 at the front, 120/80 at the rear). This combination is not only perfect for negotiating the hazards of city roads but also makes Scarabeo amazingly stable and intuitive to ride for expert and novice riders alike.

The 260 mm front disc and floating caliper with three parallel pistons, and the 220 mm rear disc with twin piston caliper are linked by a revolutionary integral braking system that distributes braking action automatically between the two wheels and ensures shorter stopping distances and improved safety.

Equipment

The flat platform provides increased load carrying capacity. The windscreen mounted on the steering head deviates air flow around the rider to give turbulence-free travel even at high speeds.

The complete analog/digital instrumentation includes a genuine on-board computer that can be accessed directly from the handlebars. Among a wide range of useful functions, one that stands out is the outside temperature gauge with ice warning.

The centre stand has been designed to offer excellent leverage, so that parking your Scarabeo is a piece of cake. The aluminium luggage rack provides the ideal surface for fitting a top box.
