2006 Yamaha XMAX 125
The Max family grows. In the finest tradition now well established by Yamaha's exciting Max family,
the new 2006 X-max 125 brings a fresh sporting dimension to the 125 class. This is a premium quality
machine with high-class styling designed for riders who want more than competent commuting
transport; they appreciate the best performance in terms of speed and handling too.
Style, sport and sophistication for the 125 class;
Yamaha believes engine capacity should be no barrier to class and quality, which is why the new
X-max 125 has everything that's made the X-max 250 stand out for the discerning sports rider, with the
accessibility of a 125cc engine. It's this thinking beyond the usual boundaries which has always kept
Yamaha in front, with pioneering machines like the first maxi-scooter, the TMAX, a unique blend of
easy handling, performance and convenience. Those Max family values are just as valid in the 125 class,
which is where the X-max 125 comes straight in at the top.
A new performance benchmark;
The X-max 125 therefore focuses on performance, both from its engine and its chassis. The powerful
new liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke motor is the most sophisticated in the class, producing
10.36 kW (14.09 PS) at 8,750 rpm, giving the X-max 125 the highest top speed in the category at
110 kph. It easily meets the forthcoming Euro 3 regulations thanks to its remarkable emission control
system: the fuelling is absolutely precise thanks to an oxygen feedback loop to the fuel injection
system and two catalysts, with an ISCV idle control. This also gives the X-max 125 a crisp, responsive
feel as well as class-leading acceleration for safer overtaking and an exhilarating ride. Noise levels are
minimised by the high efficiency rollered rocker arms operating the four valves, while economy and
torque (11.33 Nm/1.16 kgm at 6,500 rpm) are enhanced by the engine's 52 mm x 58.6 mm long
stroke architecture.
The combination of exceptionally stiff chassis and large diameter wheels - 120/70 x 15 front and
140/70 x 14 rear - means the X-max 125 offers motorcycle-type handling, with outstanding stability
at speed and sharp, accurate cornering. With 110 mm front wheel travel and 95 mm at the rear, the
X-max 125 has an excellent ability to deal with poor surfaces while maintaining rider comfort. It's a
more compact machine than a maxi scooter with lightweight bodywork and an easy 775 mm seat
height, which means it's very agile and easy to handle, a great benefit at low speeds in town, parking
or when exploring the X-max's high performance capabilities.
Practicality and comfort;
Being a Yamaha Max scooter, the X-max 125 also leads the way in practicality, with a huge underseat
storage space that's enough for two full-face helmets, or one helmet and a good-sized bag. Thanks
to the large and well-shaped seat, along with the very smooth ride provided by the large diameter
wheels and wide tyres, rider comfort is excellent. The weather protection from the distinctive, sleek and
modern bodywork improves it further. All of this, the strong engine and great handling, mean plenty of
rider satisfaction, but they also add up to improved safety, through reduced fatigue, improved grip and
the X-max's highly effective 267 mm front and 240 mm rear disc brakes.
The large capacity 12.5 litre fuel tank adds a real long distance capability, surprising in a 125 if not in
a Yamaha Max scooter! The X-max 125 is very much a high end machine aimed at the discerning rider
who appreciates quality and style in all walks of life, in addition to leading dynamic ability.
Yamaha knows you want more than you need;
X-max 125 is for the rider who wants more than commuter transport. He's after the excitement,
challenge and satisfaction which he can only get from a machine capable of testing his skills, moving
regular journeys up a level where sport, excitement and sensation can be enjoyed too.
