Vespa ET Range - 2005
VESPA ET4 150, 125 and 50 - VESPA ET2 50
The Vespa ET applies the most advanced technology to a truly legendary vehicle. The ET has always been accessible to just about everyone. Now it gets even easier to use. With a lower saddle and the addition of a side stand, the Vespa is more user-friendly than ever.
The Vespa isn't "just" a scooter. It's a worldwide symbol of Italian style, in part because of its extraordinary sales success - over 16 million units produced so far.
With over 450,000 units produced since 1996 in four different versions, the Vespa ET now offers small but significant new features to make it even simpler to use, for the very young as well as a growing female clientele.
The seat of the Vespa ET goes down to 785 mm to make it suitable for people of any height. The use of a side stand now makes it easier to effortlessly park the Vespa ET.
The launch of the new Vespa generation in 1996, on the fiftieth anniversary of the world's best-known and best-selling scooter, marked a small revolution - it was the first Vespa powered by a four-stroke engine.
In keeping with its unique tradition of styling and technical innovation, the Vespa continues to evolve and keep up with the latest environmental protection standards. The launch of the Vespa ET4 50, the first small Vespa with a four-stroke engine, highlighted Piaggio's technological advantage in producing new generation vehicles even in small displacements.
The Piaggio Hi-PER4, the first four-stroke 50cc scooter engine ever built by a European manufacturer, powers the Vespa ET4 50. It features lively performance that no two-stroke user will criticise, as well as quiet running and a drastic reduction of emissions in line with severe Euro2 standards.
The Vespa ET4 50 has been a success across the board because of its style, technological superiority and special four stroke exhaust note, very rare on a 50cc. Low fuel consumption is another strong reason for the continuing success of this 50cc scooter. Fuel economy is in fact outstanding. The Vespa ET4 50 can travel 56 km at 30 km/h on a litre of petrol. Even at top speed, consumption is an excellent 39 km/litre.
These figures, as well as the large fuel tank that is a feature of all the new Vespa generation scooters, give the Vespa ET4 50 the best range in the 50cc class - about 500 km on a full tank.
Alongside the Vespa ET4 50, the Vespa ET2 model is powered by the two stroke Piaggio Hi-PER2, also in line with Euro2 standards as a result of its two-way catalytic converter and Secondary Air System.
High technology and environment protection are the criteria that inspired the Piaggio LEADER (Low Emission ADvanced Engine Range) propulsions that power the Vespa ET4 125 and 150 in a two valve, SOHC, air cooled configuration. The Vespa ET is equipped with a CVT automatic gearbox. Electric start is standard, with a conventional kick-starter provided for emergencies.
Build quality is an important consideration. All the models in the Vespa ET range are the same size and share a stress bearing steel body designed by 3D CAD, with component elements cut by laser and painted by robot.
The braking system is oversized and powerful, with a 200 mm front disk and 110 mm rear drum. 10" light alloy wheel rims and large tyres (100/80 at the front and 120/70 at the rear) complete the cycle parts. These combine with exceptional frame rigidity, making the scooter entertaining, responsive and safe to ride.
The powerful front headlight features full and dipped beam positions for optimal visibility in any kind of weather and light.
Twin rear view mirrors are also standard and further enhance safety.
The Vespa ET range is available in metallic Shiny Black, Pearl, Dawn, Excalibur Grey and Imperial Blue, (125 and 150).
