Gilera Runner Replica - 2005
Dedicated to the Metis Gilera Racing Team and its riders Stefano Perugini and Fabrizio Lai, the new 'replica' version of the Gilera Runner comes straight from the 2004 motorcycle world championship.
The 2004 motorcycle world championship is the source of the very special Runner Racing Replica dedicated to the Metis Gilera Racing Team, whose riders Stefano Perugini and Fabrizio Lai will race the 125cc category of the world's major motorcycling event.
With a chassis in Gilera red and exactly the same checked graphics as the Grand Prix Gilera 125, the Replica bears the Gilera rings in red and black on its front shield. Every detail of the Runner Racing Replica is inspired from the bike that will race the 125cc championship, including the numbers 7 and 32 that will identify Perugini and Lai on race circuits worldwide this season.
Wheel rims painted shiny black enhance the racy image of this stunningly beautiful 'replica' scooter.
The cycle parts of the Gilera Runner Racing Replica feature a tubular steel frame, a hydraulic fork with 30 mm upside-down shafts, a hydraulic rear single shock absorber and 12" wheel rims. The large section tyres (120/70 in front, 130/70 at the rear) and the double disk braking system offer sport performance while ensuring road safety.
The all-new Runner Racing Replica is available with the two types of engine that currently equip the Runner 50 cc, i.e. carburettor and electronic injection versions.
The powerful, sparkling carburettor engine on the 50 cc two stroke that powers the Runner is the latest version of the Hi-Per 2 Pro liquid cooled propulsion, now entirely Euro2 compatible to offer the ideal mix of racing fun and environment-friendliness.
The extremely modern PUREJet 50cc is a two stroke engine with electronic injection and liquid cooling that guarantees the brilliant, zippy performance typical of the raciest two strokes. This unit offers pure fun and riding pleasure while keeping within the strictest emissions limits.
The performance of the Runner Racing Replica engine does not affect consumption and emissions. On the contrary, the PUREJet drastically cuts down on fuel and oil consumption, by 50 and 40 per cent respectively, and reduces emissions by up to 80 per cent compared to a traditional two stroke.
What's more, electronic control of the propulsion allows excellent functioning even at low temperatures and low rpm, ensures the scooter is always ready to start and completely eliminates exhaust even when the engine is cold - an additional guarantee, together with the Runner 50 PUREJet's Euro2 compatibility, of riding a scooter that has minimal impact on the environment.
