    After five days of intense physiotherapy on cracked bones in his right wrist and left foot, Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi returned to MotoGP action for the first true test of his fitness since the Dutch TT in today's free practice sessions for the British Grand Prix. Rossi took to the Donington Park circuit with heavy strapping on his wrist but was able to complete 43 laps over the two sessions, running consistently at the top end of the timing screens before settling for the seventh fastest lap overall.     There is now only four weeks to go until the T+MX Grand Prix Great Britain takes place at Hawkstone Park on 29 / 30 July 2006. Without doubt this will be the biggest trial in the UK calendar this year and is the only remaining World championship status off road event to take place on these shores in 2006. Read more.....

    For the first time in 14 years, the legendary Goodwood Festival of Speed will not clash with any major motorcycle races, which means one of the best turnouts from the biking world that the event has ever seen.     Troy Bayliss extended his unbeaten run to eight at Misano Adriatico as the first race saw the Ducati Xerox Team rider take a superb win from seventh on the grid. With clinical efficiency Bayliss picked off the six riders ahead of him on the track one by one to take the lead on lap 11 and power to the 25 points. Read more.....

    Dougie Lampkin made his dream of an eighth outdoor World title become more like reality when he won the French Grand Prix held at La Chatre earlier today. This was Lampkin's first victory of the season and took him seven points closer to Raga in the title race, as the current championship leader slumped to fourth place today. Read more.....

    Camel Yamaha Team rider Colin Edwards came within metres of his first MotoGP World Championship victory today after dominating the Dutch TT until a breathtaking finale at Assen. Starting from the front row of the grid Edwards led the way from the first turn and set an electrifying pace that only American compatriot Nicky Hayden (Honda) was able to follow. With two laps remaining Hayden closed in and made his first lunge for the lead, forcing Edwards off the track and onto the escape road. Read more.....

    James Toseland (Winston Ten Kate Honda) proved that all the pre-race work in getting the qualifying set-up of his CBR1000RR optimised around Misano had paid dividends, taking the Superpole win and putting himself in the prime position for Sunday's two 25-lap races. It was his first Superpole win since joining the Winston Ten Kate Honda Team this season. His time of 1'33.833 was the best time of any weekend official qualifying session, despite the hot and slippery track surface. Having qualified eighth in regulation, Toseland rode superbly to top the sheets and look on as rider after rider failed to match his peerless best.     Camel Yamaha Team team-mates Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi will start from opposite ends of the grid in tomorrow's 76th edition of the Dutch TT after enjoying contrasting fortunes in qualifying practice. Whilst Edwards was consistently amongst the fastest riders on track throughout the day, topping the time sheets in morning free practice before clocking the third quickest time to seal a front row start in the decisive afternoon session, Rossi continued to suffer from the effects of a heavy crash yesterday and was only able to complete fourteen laps in qualifying.     Troy Bayliss pulled a last minute quick lap out of the bag to clinch provisional pole position for the Ducati Xerox Team at a hot and humid Misano Adriatico circuit on Friday. The Australian was languishing in a lowly top 10 position for much of the session as he completed a race simulation, but then bolted a fresh tyre on towards the end to produce two stunning laps that just edged him ahead of fellow Australian Troy Corser (Suzuki) and the Kawasaki duo of Règis Laconi and Chris Walker.     The 2006 World Superbike Championship heads down Italy's Adriatic coast to the Santamonica circuit for the half-way point in the series, the traditionally scorching hot San Marino Round at Misano Adriatico. All eyes will be on runaway championship leader Troy Bayliss, who currently has a healthy lead of 76 points after an impressive run of seven successive victories in the first ten races.     Camel Yamaha Team rider Colin Edwards adapted better than any other rider to the track changes and mixed weather conditions that affected the first day of action at the Dutch TT today, clocking the fastest time in the afternoon session after lapping sixth quickest in the morning. The main concern for Yamaha at Assen today, however, was for the condition of Edwards' team-mate Valentino Rossi, who suffered a high-speed crash in the morning and was taken to a local hospital for treatment to a number of minor injuries.     After sustaining injuries at the recent Brno tests, world championship leader Sebastien Charpentier underwent an operation last Thursday, during which doctors in Paris inserted one plate in his collarbone and one in bone three of his pelvis. Seb is recovering well after his restorative surgery and should be back for a Lausitz tyre test session, just a week before Brno race on 23 July. Arie Vos will take Charpentier's spot during the Misano weekend. The Dutch rider is back again with the Winston Ten Kate Honda Team after last year's experience outing at Magny-Cours. Arie knows the bike, the tyres and the track very well and should be able to achieve a positive result on the Italian circuit. For the team's regular second rider, Kenan Sofuoglu, it will be the first time with his Honda CBR 600 on this circuit, and last year a broken hand prevented him from competing in the Superstock Championship.     The Motor Cycle Industry's educational resource, 'LINKS - connecting Citizenship and Road User Education' which is being distributed free of charge to all secondary schools, will help teachers achieve new targets set for the Government's 'Every Child Matters' initiative. In addition to LINKS being relevant to young people today, it is a resource that can work to supplement schools efforts to integrate classroom activities into this new Government initiative.     After the terrible incident that last Sunday on the Catalan track of Montemelò involved 6 riders, Marco Melandri's physical conditions are improving and this morning he left the General Hospital of Catalunya in Sant Cugat (Barcelona) where he underwent treatment and CAT scans and was treated for a dislocation of the acromion-clavicular and mild concussion.     After a recent test session at Brno the Winston Ten Kate Honda Superbike squad approaches the halfway point of the 2006 season at Misano with spirits high at the prospect battling for top placings once more. New electronics packages were tested at Brno, and may be used at Misano, to help riders James Toseland and Karl Muggeridge move further up the championship table. A regular venue on the SBK calendar, Misano is a circuit of contrasts, with ultra-fast left hand corners leading onto the back straight, mixed in with a plethora of tighter corners and two chicanes. Hot Adriatic weather is expected to add to the intensity of the challenge, with track temperatures often the highest encountered all season. Read more.....

    Sete Gibernau underwent an operation to fix the fracture in his left collarbone today. The Spanish rider now needs a period of recovery and he will be replaced by Alex Hofmann at the Dutch TT.     Parts Unlimited Ducati pilot Ben Bostrom continued his quest for victory in the early portions of Sunday's AMA Superbike race at Miller Motorsports Park. Despite a strong challenge that saw him qualify on the front row and fight for the lead in both races, Bostrom had an unfortunate crash while battling for the win. His teammate Neil Hodgson worked his way from outside the top ten to sixth place in the 21-lap race. Read more.....

    Rizla Suzuki's James Haydon will be discharged from the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital today after being admitted for examination following a crash in the second race at the seventh round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Snetterton yesterday. Read more.....

    Dougie Lampkin's disappointing run of results in the Spanish domestic championship continued, when he finished just behind his Japanese team mate Takahisa Fujinami to take sixth spot at the fourth round of the series held near Alicante. Read more.....

    Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi emerged from a crash-strewn race at Catalunya with 25 more points to boost his world title defence, thanks to his third Grand Prix victory of the season at Montmelo today. One of the most dramatic races in recent history began to unfold from the first corner, when Sete Gibernau (Ducati) collided with his team-mate Loris Capirossi under braking and both riders went tumbling into the gravel at high speed, taking Marco Melandri (Honda) with them. All three riders were injured and unable to join the restarted race after the red flags were subsequently raised, although John Hopkins (Suzuki), Randy de Puniet (Kawasaki) and Dani Pedrosa (Honda) did make it back to the grid after also running off track during the first corner melee.     It was an action packed day and one of mixed results for the Airwaves Ducati team at Snetterton today. Leon Haslam was looking for the elusive win from his pole position start but finished the day with two 2nd places, 2005 BSB Champion Gregorio Lavilla achieved a 3rd place in the first race but failed to finish a dramatic second race.     World Endurance Champions Suzuki Castrol won the Zolder 6 Hour fourth round of the FIM World Endurance Championship in Belgium this afternoon and extended its lead in the series to 44 points. Read more.....

    Parts Unlimited Ducati's Ben Bostrom finished third in Saturday's Superbike race at Miller Motorsports Park. Bostrom fought with a four-rider pack for the win through most of the 21-lap race, the first-ever AMA Superbike event at the track. Racing his Ducati 999, Ben showed both his aggressiveness and a veteran's talent for tire conservation to finish on the podium for the first time in 2006. His teammate Neil Hodgson finished right behind Bostrom in fourth place. Bostrom, who qualified on the front row, was a key factor in the exciting scrap for the lead at the 3.048-mile circuit. He moved up to third spot on lap 15 and never relented the position, despite a challenge by Jake Zemke. Read more.....

    Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi will line up in pole position for the first time in almost a year when the MotoGP World Championship riders take their place on the grid for the seventh round of the season at Catalunya tomorrow. The Italian has been in excellent form all weekend and after continuing yesterday's job to set his YZR-M1 up for the 25-lap race, he was able to concentrate fully on a burst of quick laps at the end of this afternoon's qualifying session. His fastest lap registered a new pole record of 1'41.855 and put him at the front of the MotoGP grid for the first time since the 2005 British Grand Prix last July. Read more.....

    The Airwaves Ducati riders secured their seasons 3rd one-two on the grid at Snetterton today, qualifying with two of the fastest times ever seen at the 1.952 mile Norfolk circuit.     Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi followed on from the joy of home victory at Mugello two weeks ago with an encouraging start to proceedings at round seven of the MotoGP World Championship in Barcelona. The Italian set the quickest time on the first day of free practice, overcoming delicately damp conditions in the afternoon to dislodge Kenny Roberts (Team KR) from the top of the time sheets after the American had set the pace in a stifling hot and humid morning session, run on a completely dry track.     The super fast Snetterton circuit was bathed in sunshine as round 7 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship got underway. Today's two free practice sessions were full of action with Haslam clocking the fastest time in first practice and the 2nd fastest in the second.     The Parts Unlimited Ducati Team will compete in the inaugural Miller Motorsports Park AMA Superbike race in Utah this weekend. Racers Neil Hodgson and Ben Bostrom will race their Ducati 999 Superbikes on the brand new 3.06-mile course located near Salt Lake City. The riders, who have finished every 2006 Superbike race thus far in the top ten, have completed a promising test the test at the circuit last month. Read more.....

    Three days of hard work for the Winston Ten Kate Honda Team in Brno. The main objective was to check the traction control system provided by PI Research, which gave good results since the beginning. Both riders, James Toseland and Karl Muggeridge, tried it and both of them felt good with it even if there is still some work to do. The three days of testing went well also thanks to the weather conditions which were almost perfect, in fact on day 2 around midday a rainstorm wetted the track for half an hour and ruined some work in the afternoon. Lap times consistently improved for both riders who are determinate to do well in Misano next weekend. Read more.....

    Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox Team) demolished the outright Superbike lap record on the second day of testing at the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic. The Australian, whose has raced at Brno before but only in MotoGP, improved last year's best lap time set by Chris Walker by over two seconds to leave the unofficial record at 2m00.8s.     Hawk Kawasaki rider Carl Rennie had a fantastic week at the Isle of Man TT achieving some great results for the Hawk Team. The 36-year-old shone in the two Superbike races scoring a seventh and sixth place respectively and gaining a 17th and 14th position in the Supersport and Superstock races. Read more.....

    Market reports for May 2006 show higher total registrations for the month (7.3%), year-to-date (2.0%) and rolling year (1.0%) compared to May 2005. By comparison, car registrations were up 1.1% in May and down 4.3% for year to date. Read more.....

    Next weekend the Circuit de Catalunya hosts the MotoGP World Championship for the fifteenth successive season since opening to coincide with the Olympic Games in 1992 and sees the Camel Yamaha Team looking to strike gold for the second consecutive race. Following on from Valentino Rossi's epic victory at his home Grand Prix in Italy less than two weeks ago, and backed up by encouraging data from a subsequent day of testing at the Mugello circuit, confidence could not be higher for a repeat result as the team look to close down the points gap to joint series leaders Loris Capirossi (Ducati) and Nicky Hayden (Honda).     On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week the Airwaves Ducati team carried out a scheduled test at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire. With air temperatures of 24 degrees and the track at 38 degrees the team enjoyed glorious weather for the mid season test during which Leon completed 167 laps equivalent to 585km and Gregorio covered 118 laps or 413km. Dunlop were in attendance to provide test tyres and technical support along with GSE Racing's Ohlins technician for detailed suspension improvements. Read more.....

    Klaus Klaffenböck and Christian Parzer were third fastest in Sidecar practices. The setting of their new LCR sidecar for the TT was done. Everything was perfect. The Austrian sidecar aces did a 20:31.60 lap time in practice - their fastest lap time ever. Just before the first Sidecar Race on Monday they received a new starting number. After their crash Molyneux/Hallam could not take part in the race. So Nick Crowe/Darren Hope got starting number 1, Klaffenböck/Parzer 2. Read more.....

    The dramatic scenery of the Mugello circuit in Tuscany provided the backdrop to one of the most exciting MotoGP races in living memory today as Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi clinched his second victory of the season in a heart-stopping Italian Grand Prix. The local hero produced one of his best ever performances in front of the adoring 89,200 crowd, emerging from an intense battle with his compatriot Loris Capirossi (Ducati) and a host of other riders to take the chequered flag with a 0.575 second advantage after 23 laps of pure drama.     Parts Unlimited Ducati's Neil Hodgson rallied to finish fourth on his Ducati 999 at Road America and teammate Ben Bostrom completed Sunday's 16-lap race in seventh place. The race was red-flagged on lap six and restarted, setting the stage for a late race showdown. Read more.....

There were two 2nd places for Leon Haslam and Gregorio Lavilla continued his run of podium finishes in every race this season with a 3rd place in the first race and a win in the second.     F1 racing's most successful rider Michael Schumacher experienced a new kind of thrill today, riding round Mugello aboard the Ducati Marlboro Team Desmosedici two-seater. The seven-time World Champion rode two laps of the high-speed circuit behind former GP winner Randy Mamola, after several other guests had taken their turn, including the reigning Miss Italy, Edelfa Masciotta.     Dougie Lampkin returned to the podium when he took third place during the second and final day of the Japanese Grand Prix held earlier today. Lampkin briefly led the trial towards the end of the first lap, but dropped back to third place as the punch card were swapped after he fived the last section. With yesterday's winner Bou only managing seventh position today, Dougie now moves back to second in the overall standings after four out of ten rounds. Read more.....

    Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi will start from the front row of the grid for the first time this season in tomorrow's Grand Prix of Italy after the home hero set the third quickest time in today's single qualifying practice. The session took place under a blanket of thick grey cloud, with cool ambient temperatures of 16ºC and just 18ºC on track, but the threat of rain held off and the teams and riders were afforded crucial dry track time as they adjusted their machine set-up ahead of tomorrow's 23-lap race.     Dougie Lampkin recorded his worst result of the season to date, when he finished fifth at today's Japanese Grand Prix held at the famous Motegi Twin Ring circuit. Lampkin held second place at the end of the first lap, despite starting the trial with a disputed five at section two, but saw he challenge fade as he failed to match the improvement made by his rivals during the closing tour.     After suffering painful injuries in a high-speed crash at Mallory Park yesterday, Rizla Suzuki's James Haydon has withdrawn from the races at the sixth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship to give himself time to heal before the next round in two week's time. Read more.....

    Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi kicked off his preparations for the Italian Grand Prix in positive fashion today as he set the fastest lap time in both of the opening free practice sessions of the weekend. Read more.....

    After a twenty minute delay the Thursday afternoon practice got underway in near perfect conditions. Unlike previous sessions Lougher had decided not to get away first, but to wait and go away further down the field. Out for two laps onboard the Stobart Motorsport superbike, Lougher appeared happy with set-up combination as he blasted past the paddock on the start of the second lap without stopping to make any adjustment.
