    Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi made up valuable points in the MotoGP World Championship title chase after charging from eleventh place on the grid to take fourth overall in today's Turkish Grand Prix. Despite making a quick start from his lowly grid position, the Italian made a mistake on lap two and dropped as far back as twelfth. However crucial changes made to the setup of his YZR-M1 before the race then allowed him to pass no fewer than seven riders, as he lapped at the same pace as the leading group over the course of the race. By the time he had made his way through the pack it was too late for the Italian to challenge for the podium but a crash for Dani Pedrosa (Honda) on the final lap boosted his final position to fourth. Today's result makes Rossi the highest point-scorer of all time in the Grand Prix World Championship, overtaking Max Biaggi. Read more.....

    Leon Haslam & Gregorio Lavilla rode some of the fastest laps ever seen at Oulton Park today to finish 1st and 3rd in qualifying. Leon set the fastest ever motorcycle lap of the circuit, repeating his Thruxton performance, and in the process went over a second quicker than the lap record set last year by his team mate, securing pole position with a time of 1:35.120.     Local weather forecasts predicting heavy rain for today's qualifying session at the Grand Prix of Turkey were borne out today as an early downfall and intermittent afternoon showers thwarted the Camel Yamaha Team's hopes of improving their YZR-M1 machines ahead of tomorrow's 22-lap race. After struggling to find an ideal setting for the demanding Istanbul Park circuit in yesterday's free practices, both Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi had hoped to complete some dry laps before this afternoon's crucial grid decider but they were forced to splash their way through the puddles and battle hard for ninth and eleventh place respectively.     The Airwaves Ducati team achieved good results in today's free practice at the 2.692 mile Cheshire circuit. Leon Haslam rode consistently quick times on his 999F06 finishing 2nd fastest of the day. Gregorio Lavilla completed his day in 5th. Read more.....

    Camel Yamaha Team riders Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards spent the first day of practice for the Grand Prix of Turkey gathering important set-up data after encountering different track conditions to those they enjoyed here season. With this year's event taking place some six months earlier than the inaugural race here last October, overcast skies contributed to cool ambient temperatures of 20ºC and produced low grip levels on track, where Nicky Hayden (Honda) set the free practice pace with a best lap of 1'53.623.     The MCI and the motorcycle community have welcomed a debate, which took place this week in the House of Commons, on the opening of bus lanes for motorcycles. The debate, responded to by Minister for Transport Dr Stephen Ladyman MP, highlighted that there have been no negative effects caused by bikes in bus lanes and that unless there is any special reason Local Authorities should be permitting and encouraging this practical and safe use of bus lanes.     Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi reaches another special milestone in his illustrious career this weekend as he contests his 100th consecutive premier-class race in the Grand Prix of Turkey. The Italian and his team-mate Colin Edwards travel to the Istanbul Park circuit, located 300 kilometres north west of the capital city of Ankara, looking to build on tentative first impressions of the track from last year, when they finished second and seventh respectively in a race won by Marco Melandri.     Parts Unlimited Ducati Team racers Neil Hodgson and Eric Bostrom finished fifth and sixth in the Sunday AMA Superbike contest from Birmingham, Alabama. Hodgson finished 4.511 seconds behind winner Ben Spies in the red-flagged 28-lap race, taking fifth in an eight-lap shootout and finishing in front of teammate and fellow Ducati 999 pilot Ben Bostrom.     Troy Bayliss notched up the 24th and 25th victories of his World Superbike career with a double win at the Valencia circuit as the Ducati Xerox rider and his fellow Australian Troy Corser (Suzuki) put on a spectacular display of racing today. The Spanish Round saw two similar races and identical podiums with Bayliss's young Italian team-mate Lorenzo Lanzi grabbing third place on both occasions for his first podiums of the year.     Dougie Lampkin finished in third place at the second round of the Spanish domestic championship held near the city of Leon, Spain earlier today. Using the opportunity to further familiarise himself and to test new settings on the 2006 factory Repsol Montesa HRC machine, Lampkin was relatively happy with his day's work. Giving him the chance to put in some additional hours on the bike before the World championship resumes towards the end of May. Read more.....

    Neil Hodgson and Ben Bostrom had a difficult day on the Parts Unlimited Ducati 999s in Birmingham on Saturday. Hodgson finished sixth in the 28-lap race, gaining several positions after a poor start. Ben Bostrom was ninth as he continued to feel ill in what has been challenging weekend for the former series champion. Read more.....

    Troy Bayliss and Lorenzo Lanzi (Ducati Xerox) will line up on the front row of the grid for tomorrow's round 3 of the World Superbike Championship at Valencia after qualifying in second and third position in Superpole. Just three-tenths of a second separated the top 4 on the grid as the two Ducati factory riders split two more Australians, poleman Troy Corser (Suzuki) and Steve Martin (Petronas) in fourth place.     Sebastien Charpentier (Winston Ten Kate Honda) did not need to improve on his first day track record lap time of 1'36.913 to take his third pole of the 2006 season, putting himself in the perfect starting spot for Sunday's 23-lap Supersport race. It was the 30th consecutive front row start for a Honda machine in World Supersport. Charpentier concentrated his efforts on finding an optimum race set-up, after he found that the track offered marginally less grip than during the first day of qualifying. Read more.....

    Parts Unlimited Ducati pilot Neil Hodgson qualified sixth in the first of two Birmingham Superbike Qualifying sessions on Friday, but the Isle of Man resident was less than one tenth off third place in a hotly contested battle. Teammate Ben Bostrom felt ill, but put his Ducati 999 in eighth spot nonetheless. On the day, the riders competed against each other and the weather as five spots inside the top ten were separated by just over half a second. Just as the session ended, the rains that had threatened the entire 50 minutes of qualifying and forced riders to go for their best times early finally fell. Read more.....

    Troy Bayliss set second quickest time for the Ducati Xerox Team as his battle with reigning champion Troy Corser (Suzuki) continued in first qualifying at Valencia. Just 43/100ths of a second separated the two Australian rivals after the one-hour session while another Aussie, Steve Martin (Petronas) and Japan's Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha) made up the other two slots on the provisional front row of the grid.     Neil Hodgson and Ben Bostrom of the Parts Unlimited Ducati team return to AMA Superbike action this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Alabama.     After dominating the recent FGSport official tests at Valencia and Misano Adriatico, championship leader Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) will return to the Ricardo Tormo circuit this weekend as a man on a mission. The 37-year-old Australian unofficially broke both long-standing lap records at the Spanish and the Italian tracks and his aim is now to increase his slender one-point lead over James Toseland (Honda) at the top of the table.     After a month and half of break, the SBK World Championship restarts from the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, the first of ten races which will be raced in Europe. The Winston Ten Kate Honda Team will present in Spain after the strong results obtained in the first two races of the season, which have placed James Toseland at the second position of the standing, only one point behind the leader Troy Bayliss.     Overall registration figures of motorcycle, mopeds and scooters were up eight percent for the year to date in March 2006. Year to date statistics for motorcycle registrations saw a notable increase of nine percent, scooters increased by five percent and mopeds remained stable. Read more.....

Leon Haslam completed the circuit's fastest ever lap on two wheels, with a time of 1:14.626, to take pole position for tomorrow's race.     Airwaves Ducati had a successful day of practice in both wet and dry conditions at the 2.356 mile Thruxton circuit in Hampshire. At the end of the two sessions 2005 British Superbike Champion, Gregorio Lavilla was placed 2nd and Leon Haslam 3rd, looking set to start where they left off at Donington Park. Read more.....

  4. Troy Bayliss again set the pace for the Ducati Xerox Team on the first day of a two-day FGSport official test at the Santamonica circuit in Misano Adriatico. Championship leader Bayliss, who had not raced at the Misano circuit since 2002, powered around in a time of 1m33.814s, just three-tenths of a second off his best lap of four years back and seven-tenths of a second quicker than Troy Corser (Suzuki).     Karl Muggeridge, rider of the Winston Ten Kate Honda Team, really wanted to participate to the 3rd Superbike World Championship round of the 2006 season, but doctors have been really prudent from the first exams. The Mobile Clinic's doctors declared from the beginning, and after further medical controls in Switzerland and Australia the result was the same. Karl will not be able to compete on the Ricardo Tormo circuit in the next weekend of race in Valencia. Read more.....

    Thruxton is Rizla Suzuki's home circuit that boasts a 112mph+ average lap speed, making it the fastest circuit the British Superbikes visit, a fact the team will be hoping to use to its advantage at the third round of the Championship this weekend. Read more.....

    Following Valentino Rossi's hard-fought victory in yesterday's Grand Prix of Qatar, the Italian was back out on track today alongside his Camel Yamaha team-mate Colin Edwards for a one-day test today. Despite Rossi's win, the team still saw remnants of their vibration problem arise during the weekend and today's test was aimed once again at working to understand and finally eliminate this problem from the 2006 YZR-M1.     Motivated by the extremely positive result in the Qatar GP, a circuit considered to be the most difficult in the MotoGP World Championship (3rd place for Loris Capirossi and 4th place for Sete Gibernau), the Ducati Marlboro Team men today continued their unrelenting development work on the Ducati Desmosedici GP6 and Bridgestone tyres.     Marco Melandri worked on the weight distribution in order to improve his feeling with the bike. Together with the Team, the Italian rider found some good solutions that allowed him to be fast and consistent. He made a very fast lap with race tyres (1'55"95) and lapped with a good pace.     After just two rounds of the 2006 World outdoor series James Dabill finds himself amongst the planet's most elite riders, thanks to a career best seventh place at today's Portuguese Grand Prix. James' pair of opening results sees him holding ninth place in the World championship, to add to the lead he now holds in the European series. Read more.....

    Dougie Lampkin recorded his second third place in a row when he stepped on to the lower tier of the podium at the Portuguese Grand Prix held in Mortagua earlier today. Lampkin suffered from similar mistakes to those that cost him in Spain, as he again took two fives in a section with a big step to put him out of contention in terms of taking the victory.     Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi returned to the top step of the podium after a stunning ride in today's Grand Prix of Qatar. Rossi's 54th career MotoGP victory was sealed with a perfectly timed run in the second half of the race, passing early leader Casey Stoner (Honda) on lap 10 of 22 and holding off a late attack from Nicky Hayden (Honda) and Loris Capirossi (Ducati), who completed the podium. The win brings Rossi's premier-class tally level with that of Mick Doohan, with only the legendary Giacomo Agostini now ahead of him on 68 victories. Read more.....

    James Dabill took control of the European championship by winning the second round of the series held in Mortagua, Portugal earlier today. Dabill gave his rivals no real chance and won by a massive fifteen mark margin after posting the best score on both laps. Read more.....

    Camel Yamaha Team riders Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards improved the setting of their Yamaha M1 machines for tomorrow's Grand Prix of Qatar despite struggling for a fast single lap in this afternoon's qualifying practice. Whilst both riders again demonstrated encouraging pace on race rubber, the improved rear grip offered by the qualifying tyre at the end of the session exaggerated the remaining traces of vibration problems and prevented them from mounting a serious challenge for a front row start.     Camel Yamaha Team riders Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards began key set-up work on their Yamaha YZR-M1 machines for the Grand Prix of Qatar in relatively mild temperatures of 27ºC today. After excelling at this track in pre-season tests the riders were keen to gauge the bike's performance against the other main contenders in the MotoGP class and after two intense free practice sessions they ended the day in optimistic moods about their chances for Saturday's race.     Vast football-stadium style lamps illuminated the Losail racetrack from the startline to the first corner this evening, to allow the three permanent riders on the Security Commission (Valentino Rossi, Kenny Roberts Junior and Loris Capirossi) try out the circuit during the hours of darkness, to evaluate the feasibility of holding races at night.
