The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) has paid out a reward of £500 to Wirral motorcyclist Keith Buck for his effort in combating motorcycle theft. Buck, who was approached by a thief with an offer of stolen parts, relayed his suspicions to police with whom he co-operated by viewing an ID parade which resulted in a successful prosecution. Team Castrol Suzuki duo Steve Webster and Paul Woodhead have increased their title lead in the 2004 UEM European Sidecar Championship to 11.5 points after a dramatic and premature end to the seventh round of the series in Schleiz, Germany, yesterday. Read more.....
Valentino Rossi (Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha) secured a second place result at the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi today after a closely contested battle with eventual victor Makoto Tamada (Honda). Rossi led the early stages of the 24-lap race but lost his advantage to the Japanese rider from lap ten onwards, reserving his concentration to take the 20 points on offer for second place. His team-mate Carlos Checa dropped back from a bright start to finish seventh. Read more.....
With a track temperature of twenty-seven degrees and a stiff breeze, the first race got underway. Reynolds needed just eight points from his two rides and he was therefore not going to take too many chances but on lap one an incident brought out the safety car for two laps. Read more.....

Reigning World Champion Valentino Rossi put on a show of supremacy today, storming clear to win the Portuguese Grand Prix by more than five seconds from Honda rider Makoto Tamada, who was himself four seconds ahead of Alex Barros (Honda) and championship rival Sete Gibernau (Honda). Fellow Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha rider Carlos Checa also rode a strong race to complete the top five. Read more.....
It was a split result once more at Assen, as race one and two proved to be
very different contests at the end of their 16-laps. In the opener
James Toseland (Ducati Fila 999F004) secured his second race win
of the season, holding off Pierfrancesco Chili (PSG-1 Ducati 998).
In the second race, Toseland had to concede the win but only after
a phenomenal last lap, with Toseland and eventual winner Chris Vermeulen
(Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR) exchanging the lead with great frequency.

Nottingham girl Susie Grayson is aiming to make waves in the male dominated world of the motorcycle racing world by filling a club racing grid with new female racers in 2005 - a grid which would more usually see just one or two girls competing amongst thirty men. Susie believes that there are not enough girls competing in bike racing, which is why we don't see them on the podium on the world stage. "I see no reason why women can't compete effectively in this sport. A common objection is that women are too weak or slight, but this is not the case; with correct training we are quite capable of matching up to the men. We need more women in the sport and I'm sure that with enough encouragement we can start to make a difference." Read more.....

The Essex region of the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG). are encouraging riders to top up their skills and experience for free at BikeSafe Day 2004 in Chelmsford on Sunday, 5 September. The event will be held between 10am and 3.30pm, near Essex Police Headquarters. There has been much coverage in the media lately about the rising number of motorcycle deaths in Essex and so bikers are calling for everyone to 'double their efforts' to reduce it. Read more.....
