    Set-up report YZR-M1

    Although it was resurfaced only four years ago, the Rio de Janeiro circuit doesn't have a reputation for offering the traction one would hope for while racing a 240-plus horsepower machine. In fact a combination of many bumps, low grip levels and minimal camber on the medium to high-speed corners make this a very challenging circuit. Since there's only one extremely hard braking corner, most of the rider's attention will be focused on maneuverability, but more importantly drive.     Husky Sport rider Christian Iddon was exceedingly fast and on the pace at the 6th round of the British ACU Supermoto Series at the weekend. Setting the Superpole fastest lap times for both the 450 and Open Classes Iddon felt comfortable both on the bike and with the super fast track at Rowrah, Cumbria. Read more.....

    Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha rider and reigning World Champion Valentino Rossi once more demonstrated his full repertoire of racecraft by winning his third race in a row, after a last lap of epic skill and determination. A further showing of the significant improvements made to the YZR-M1 were evident when Fortuna Gauloises Yamaha Tech 3 pilot Marco Melandri also secured his second consecutive podium result - taking third behind second place rider Sete Gibernau (Honda). Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha rider Carlos Checa, who started brightly, slipped down the order to finish ninth, fighting against a lack of rear traction. Read more.....

    Mike Goodfellow is making his debut in the British Supersport championship this weekend (20/6/04) at Brands GP on the AGW Roofing CBR600RR. He is a trained mechanic who does most of the preparation himself, helped by his Dad and friends. Mike was always mad on bikes, having one on a friend's farm at a young age, then moving onto the road with a 50cc at 16. A couple of accidents saw him give up road riding and look to track days in 2000 where his times were respectable enough for him to consider racing. Read more.....

    Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha rider and reigning World Champion Valentino Rossi won his second consecutive Grand Prix in Catalunya today, his third so far - leading a charge of three Yamahas into the top four places. Fortuna Gauloises Tech 3 pilot Marco Melandri landed the first podium of his MotoGP career after a brilliant ride, finishing third behind Honda rider Sete Gibernau, while Rossi's team-mate Carlos Checa rode a fantastic home race to finish fourth after starting 12th on the grid.     The increasing feel good factor of SBK racing went off the scale at Silverstone, with a number of landmarks being made in front of a magnificent 68,000 crowd of enthusiastic fans, all blessed with day long sunshine. The Silverstone meeting marked 400 SBK races in total, after Noriyuki Haga (Renegade Ducati) had won his third race of the year. His rival in race two was the same as in race one, but second time around it was the yellow Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR of Chris Vermeulen that took the young Aussie to his maiden victory, since stepping up to Superbike. It was Honda's first win in the category since the introduction of the CBR1000RR and the first 1000cc four-cylinder race win of all time in SBK. It was also the first win the for the upwardly mobile Ten Kate team in this category of racing. Read more.....

    After three rounds of the 2004 Eastern Airways British Sidecar Championship, Team Castrol Suzuki duo Steve Webster and passenger Paul Woodhead have carved out a 34-point lead, after two superb wins at a sun-baked Silverstone at the weekend.Read more.....

    Carlos Checa gave the Factory Yamaha Team a solid result in what was, at that point, one of the most thrilling MotoGP races since the introduction of the four-stroke championship, held at the Spanish Catalunya circuit in 2003. After a 25-lap race of paint-swapping action the local hero completed the Catalan Grand Prix in fourth - 0.068 seconds ahead of fellow Yamaha rider Shinya Nakano. Read more.....

    MonsterMob Ducati's Sean Emmett continued his season long flirtation with disaster at the end of Race 1 at a sweaty Thruxton on Sunday. Instead of concentrating on the task at hand - getting his bike across the line before anyone else, he chose to the wave at the crowd coming out of the final chicane. The Duke bucked and weaved in protest, like a furious stallion trying to throw him off. He held on but almost brought the bike to a standstill in so doing, with the finishing line within spitting distance. Michael Rutter swept past to claim the most unexpected of wins, leaving Emmett facing Paul Bird's firing squad on his return to the pits. Read more.....

    Valentino Rossi held his nerve and maintained his race-long aggression to outpace his rivals not once but twice at Mugello in today's Italian Grand Prix. In doing so he seized his second win since joining the Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha Team, in outstanding style. His team-mate Carlos Checa fell on the fourth lap in the first sector of a two-race event, putting him out of the subsequent re-start, the only one which would count for points, while Norick Abe (Fortuna Gauloises Tech 3) survived to claim his best result yet - seventh.     19-year-old Manchester based rider Adam Jenkinson still leads the R6 Cup Championship by three points after finishing a very creditable 7th place at the super fast circuit of Thruxton on Sunday (6th June). All the riders had a five-week break as they missed going to Mondello Park in Ireland a few weeks ago, instead they will have a support race at the British Grand Prix at Donington Park in July. Jenkinson who qualified 11th for the race at Thruxton was keen to get to grips with the Hampshire track and gain some valuable points. Read more.....

    The Maxxis UK Supermoto Championship continues to break new ground with the confirmation today that Round 4 of the series will be held on a closed public roads circuit on the Seaside Promenade at New Brighton on Sunday 4th July.

    It's the first time ever, that a major UK Supermoto race has been held on closed public roads and entry is FREE for spectators.
