Team Klaffi Honda - December 24th 2004
Former Sidecar World Champion Klaus Klaffenböck, who rode in the 2004 TT, finishing 19th in the first race and retiring in the second has announced a two-rider team for the World Superbike and World Supersport Championship in 2005.
Klaus who made a great impression on the TT fans, hopes to back on the Mountain Course in a little under 23 weeks time.
Max Neukirchner (Germany) and Tatu Lauslehto (Finland) will ride for the Klaffi Honda Team in 2005.
2004 Max Neukirchner finished ninth in World Supersport Championship. After this impressive demonstration of his performance Max will switch to Superbike in 2005.
Team manager Klaus Klaffenböck: "2004 Max Neukirchner was the shooting star in World Supersport Championship. His change to a Klaffi Superbike is the right step in his career.
I'm convinced Max may achieve also a top ten position in the Superbike World Championship."
Tatu Lauslehto from Finland started last year for the first time in the European Supersport Championship and finished first. After extensive tests on a Klaffi Honda the decision was clear: 2005 Tatu Lauslehto will ride a Klaffi Honda CBR 600RR.
Klaus Klaffenböck: "During the last months I attentively followed Tatu's activities.
He doesn't know all the racetracks of the Supersport Championship. But he will handle this easily as Max did last season. Tatu is an excellent rider and will able to achieve a position near top ten."
